Alexandria Bay

Well I just returned from a long weekend trip to Alexandria Bay, NY with my family so here are a few of the pics I took from that trip. Although we went as a family vacation I took more images of the location than the family (habit of a professional photographer I guess). We got to visit the very large Boldt Castle which resides on Hart Island, between Canada and the USA. The Castle was intended to be the new residence of Boldt and his wife over a hundred years ago, but she died and so did his ambitions of finishing the castle, it was never completed and fell to ruins. The 1000 islands preservation society took it over and has rebuilt most of it since then.
I would love to revisit this place for the sole purpose of non stop shooting, there just wasn't enough time to shoot everything.

This is a pano comprised of 2, 9 shot HDR images I took on the shore looking toward the Canadian side of the seaway. The water was very choppy so I was pleased with the way Photomatix merged them to a smooth, calm look.

A night shot from the US of Boldt Castle.

From the Back

This is a 9 shot, hand held HDR of the servants quarters of the Boldt family boat house. Interestingly the boat house isn't part of the Boldt Castle. It's actually 1/2 miles away toward the Canadian side of the seaway.

This is one of the tunnels half underground that connected the castle to the power station. Very cool down here.

This is the main dinning room, being that no one ever lifed in the castle all the funiture was added later by the preservation society, but it's still cool to see what it could have been if it were completed.
